In the late '70s, he easily shifted into some comedy features with Every Which Way But Loose, where one of his co-stars was an appealing orangutan. Eastwood has since successfully directed many of his own movies, and he's the founder of Malpaso Productions, his own production company. Eastwood was born in San Francisco in 1930. After high school, he worked as a lumberjack, a service station attendant, and served in the Army. In 1955, he went to Hollywood where he played bit parts in films like Francis in the Navy and Revenge of the Creature In 1958, his career was further established when he was offered a significant part in the TV western series Rawhide, which ran until 1965. Eastwood then went to Italy and starred in a trio of Sergio Leone westerns known for their emphasis on violence -- A Fistful of Dollars (1964), For a Few Dollars More (1965), and The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly (1966). Returning to Hollywood, Eastwood enhanced his reputation even more as a lean, no-nonsense, independent tough guy.
